Dear Members:

On June 6, 2008, members of the GFOAz Board of Directors, Education Committee and Membership Committee convened for our annual planning meeting. The first order of business was a surprise announcement by Linda York, GFOAz President, that she was retiring as the Town of Chino Valley Finance Director. We appreciate the dedication that Linda had to furthering the Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona. We also wish Linda every success in her new endeavors. Read more

Why do we sit in meetings and wonder 'when is this going to end?' What's the most important part of a meeting? You may have answered "the beginning", and you are right. As meeting planners, when we provide an agenda and specific objectives, the beginning is easy and leads to strong results. Where are you originally from?
I was born and raised until I was 9 in Pasadena CA, then lived in San Clemente, CA until my husband Mark and my Daughter Kirsten and I moved to Maricopa, AZ 3 years ago.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in local government?
As soon as we moved to Maricopa we all felt like we were finally home. I could not think of anything I would rather do than to work for the City I loved so much instantly after moving here. Read more
