Annual Budget Forum was a Success!

More than 115 GFOAz members attended the Annual Budget Forum held at the ASU Mercado. Attendees heard presentations on the state of the Arizona economy from several presenters. The Forum was successful and enjoyed by the attendees.

January Quarterly Training- January 7, 2011

The January Quarterly training will focus on Human Resources issues facing local government. Attendees will hear from experts about keeping benefit costs down, ASRS and PSPRS issues and financial planning. More information will be emailed to members soon.

An eight-member Board of Directors provides leadership and oversight of the Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona. The board includes the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Chairperson of the Education Committee and four at-large directors.

In 2011, there will be one at-large director seat open. Any active member in good standing is eligible for election to membership on the board. An Active member is defined as any public employee or elected or appointed official having responsibility for, or engaged in, the function of governmental finance in any public jurisdiction of the State of Arizona. Where Will the Economy Be in Five Years?

As the fourth quarter begins, most economy-watchers have lost any hope that 2010 will be a year of strong growth. Instead, analysts now are expecting that it may be several years before output expands at a consistent pace that is vigorous enough to make a sizeable dent in unemployment rates.
