GFOAz has awarded two member scholarships to attend the 2014 summer conference in Tucson, August 6-8. This year's summer conference scholarship recipients were Helen Bartels, budget analyst, city of Cottonwood; and Amy Lindsey, budget and research analyst, city of Goodyear. Congratulations!

Message from Jeanette Parrales, 2014 GFOA Conference Scholarship Recipient

I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to the GFOAz Board of Directors for awarding me a $1,000 scholarship to attend the 108th Annual GFOA Conference in Minneapolis, MN.

As a participant of this conference, I was able to attend various sessions. The sessions described best practices when it comes to internal auditing, extended financial planning, and internal controls, just to name a few. I was able to network with many professionals in the field of finance and exchange ideas and thoughts relating to governmental accounting. Read more
