This session will provide a glimpse at budgeting in local government. It will cover the basics by looking at why we budget, the roles in budgeting, and the different types of budgets. We will also review the different components of a budget and what makes a good budget process.

Home Rule Option, Permanent Base Adjustment and the UERS

Because of the election consolidation bill passed by the legislature, several cities and towns will be seeking a renewal of their alternative expenditure limitation authority or seeking to adopt a new permanent base adjustment. This session will provide information about the link between these alternatives to the state expenditure limit and the Uniform Expenditure Reporting System. Make sure that you are up to speed on the procedures for renewal or adoption of these alternatives as wells as the reporting requirements of the UERS.
