Organized in 1940, ATRA is the largest and most respected independent and accurate source of public finance and tax policy information. ATRA represents taxpayers before policy makers at the state and local level. ATRA's fundamental belief is that every governmental expenditure is directly related to a tax. The Arizona Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) is known to provide loans and grants for constructing water and wastewater infrastructure. What is not well known, though, is the wide variety of interesting projects WIFA has funded. Some of these projects are critically needed for public health protection in communities otherwise unable to afford them. Some projects solve unique or distinctive problems. Still others showcase WIFA's encouragement and funding of projects that incorporate state-of-the-art "green" technologies for water and energy conservation and resource recovery. While WIFA keeps busy with traditional drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects, they are also promoting new initiatives to fund storm water and recharge projects. This presentation will describe how WIFA goes about its business and give a behind the scenes look at the many fascinating projects that WIFA funds.

Staying current with all the new GASB's, and understanding when and how each GASB Statement should be implemented can be difficult. This session will walk through the latest pronouncements as well as those pronouncements that are on the horizon. By the end of the session, you will understand the implementation dates of the GASB's, recognize some of the challenges others have faced in implementing the statements, have the tools necessary to implement current statements, and be able to prepare for upcoming pronouncements.
